What you need to know before Valentine’s Day!

woman smiling thinking about valentines day

Chris Wilson, a reporter for Time Magazine, wrote an article predicting that 10,408 children would be conceived on Valentine’s Day 2019. Whether or not his prediction proved correct, we know that unplanned pregnancies from Valentine’s Day are bound to occur.

So, as you prepare for a romantic get-a-way, a fancy date, or a night of relaxing, we want you to know where you can go and how we can help if you happen to fall into the category of having an unplanned pregnancy after Valentine’s Day.

How Marisol Health Can Help You!

  • First, we’ll have you take a pregnancy test which is conducted by Registered Nurses or trained staff. Our pregnancy tests are lab-quality, 99% accurate, and more sensitive than home pregnancy tests.
  • Second, if your test is positive, our nurses/staff will help you determine how far along you may be. You will need to know the first day of your last period, even though conception is usually two weeks later. You will be given an estimated due date based on your last menstrual cycle. From there, you may qualify for a complimentary verification ultrasound, which will provide you with a more accurate measurement of the gestational age of your pregnancy. This information can be beneficial as you decide because it can tell you what options are available to you.
  • Third, we provide comprehensive STD/STI testing and treatment for men and women.

We test for a wide variety of STDs including, but not limited to:

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Syphilis
  • HIV
  • HPV
  • Herpes
  • Hepatitis
  • Trichomoniasis
  • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
  • Fourth, we offer a myriad of counseling options and resources. Sometimes, you need to discuss your pregnancy options. Other times, you need more intensive counseling. Our counselors are kind and thoughtful. They are also honest. We want to understand your situation so that we can empower you to be healthy and successful.

Although our staff is very knowledgeable, we also can refer you to a variety of trusted, compassionate professionals and agencies who are able to provide you with any of the following services:

  • Affordable, psychological counseling for you and your family members
  • Affordable medical care
  • Training in effective parenting skills
  • Money Management classes
  • Affordable housing
  • Psychoeducational Perinatal and Postpartum Support Groups
